Q: How long are sessions?

A: Expect around 55-65 minutes a session.

Q: How often should we meet?

A: There is no "hard or fast" rule. It depends on what is most helpful to you given your circumstances. This might mean a "traditional" approach of one hour per week. If you are experiencing a crisis, you may find it to be more helpful to meet more often or have a longer session longer than an hour. Generally, as therapy progresses it is common to have longer intervals between sessions until you no longer feel the need for support from counseling.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: I am currently an "out-of-network" provider for most insurance companies. Depending on your behavioral health benefits, you may be reimbursed by your insurance company. Most of my clients are able to be reimbursed for a portion of their counseling services.

If you do decided to use your insurance benefits there are important things to note. First, a mental health diagnosis must be provided to the insurance company which will become a permanent part of your medical record. Second, many insurance companies limit the number of sessions that you can have with your counselor. Effective therapy may take longer than what your insurance company may allow.
