Q: How long are sessions?

A: Expect around 50-55 minutes a session.

Q: How often should we meet?

A: There is no "hard or fast" rule. It depends on what is most helpful to you given your circumstances. This might mean a "traditional" approach of one hour per week. If you are experiencing a crisis, you may find it to be more helpful to meet more often or have a longer session longer than an hour. Generally, as therapy progresses it is common to have longer intervals between sessions until you no longer feel the need the support of counseling.

       Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: I am an in-network provider for Anthem Blue Cross.

I am an "out-of-network" provider for most other insurance companies. Depending on your behavioral halth benefits, a portion of your counseling costs may be reimbursed by your insurance company. I find that most of my clients out-of-network benefits reduce costs by about 50%. So, sessions may cost about $45

If you do decide to use your insuance benefits there are importnant things to note. First, a mental health diagnosis must be provided to the insurance company which will become a permanent part of your medical record. Second, many insurance companies often limit the number of sessions that you can have with your counselor. Effective therapy may take longer than what your insurance company may allow.

Q: Is your counseling Biblical?

A: Everything I do is filtered through the lense of Scripture. Psychology doesn't provide the definitive answer to life problems, but some of it is quite helpful. I like to think of my counseling is both Biblical and practical. As one of my mentors has said to me, "We don't want to be so high minded that we are of no earthly good." I help apply the truths of the Bible to everyday life in simple, understandable, and winsome manner.

Q: What if I or my spoucse is not a Christian?

A: That's quite all right. Many of my clients are not Christians. One need not be a Christian to benefit from Truth. I don't evangelize clients. The truth is, Truth is applicable and helpful to us all. It makes no difference to me who comes for help. I treat all clients as if they were sent by God himself- valued, unique, and special.
